The competition and raffle raised £269.00 for the charity which provides mobility and added independence for the blind and partially sighted. It also supports research, raising awareness and campaigning for the visually impaired. In the forefront of the picture is puppy walker, Aileen Kerr and 11 month old guide dog puppy, Rhona. Holding the Trophy, in the front row, is the competition winner, Robert Carson.
Competition: April monthly medal27 players played in the competition
Played recently by Troon Welbeck Seniors. The "Rest of the World" were the underdogs, but a great display gave them a seven hole win. Our trusty first pair of George Oldham and David Shaw held Captain Neil Macinness and Tom Dougan followed by the Yorkshire tykes, John Carr and Bill Duffy defeat of Jim Jeffrey and Tam Ferguson. Our two left handers, Bill Dickson and John Whittaker beat Gordon Taylor and Andy White by five holes, with Captain Barry Scaife holding on to Charlie Watson and Alex Dunlop to lose by one hole. Thanks to Tom McCarroll's Irish grandmother, who allowed him to qualify, he and Eric Clarkson won by two holes over Jim Maxwell and Gordon Hill. A donation from players and spectators of £44 was given to Troon Welbeck Ladies section for their charity, Ayrshire Cancer Support. Come and join Troon Welbeck and be involved in our serious and fun competitions. The Seniors play every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, mostly on the Fullarton course. If any Club Member over the age of 60 would like to join them, they would be more than welcome. You would have to pay an annual fee of £3 for the pleasure and they have a sweep on each round. The Fullarton course is ideal for honing your short game and you will find our regulars are a very friendly group.
