On Thursday 10th august I awoke to blue skies and sunshine-wonderful-so different from last year when we were met with rain and a howling gale.
150 lady golfers would soon be arriving to be divided into 50 teams of 3. Some of whom were travelling many miles to take part in this popular event,
The first T-off was to be at 8.30 and the last at 3.20pm.
On arrival at the clubhouse I was met by a colourful display of flowers both inside and out. At the entrance and at the bottom of the stairs stood a golfbag bursting with flowers. Lining the stairs all the way up were golf shoes filled with flowers and at the top stood a large and beautiful flower arrangement. Many other flower arrangements were placed throughout even in the toilets where we also had real handtowels and perfumed toiletries .
In the clubhouse itself all along the window hung the 11 fourballs to be won and the raffle and tombola tables were stacked with prizes. On each of the tables in the restaurant stood a little jar filled with grass, agolf ball and a flag on which was written the number of the hole/table.
Many people worked very hard to make the day such a success. A heartfelt thankyou to many of our members for this and also to the men ball spotters who gave up a whole day to make our round a whole lot easier.
A special thank you goes to our inspiring lady captain Anne Fraser who worked so hard and then spent the whole day greeting the various teams with a smile and a word of welcome.
The winners of this years Triam were Helen Davidson,Morven M'Culloch and Carol Phelp.
The grand sum of just over £2.800 was raised for Alzheimer Research Uk. £900 of which was raised by the raffle and the Tombola. Thank you to those who gave generously in the provision of prizes and the purchasing of tickets and to those who took part in this extremely successful and charitable event.
