I can't believe a year has past since we had our last outing, but sure enough on Thursday 11th of June, 15 of us lady golfers set out again once more to enjoy sun, sea and hopefully good golf on the Girvan course. The weather had been great for over a week and we weren't disappointed to wake up to yet more blue skies on Thursday morning. After a roll and fried egg,or bacon, sausage, ham or cheese and loads of tea ,coffee ,duly fortified, we set off in five groups of 3 to tackle the course.
The biggest challenge is on the first hole which requires exceptional skill not to hit it into the sea which runs alongside! The first 8 holes run along the seafront affording beautiful views of Ailsa Craig. After that it is a quick nip into the clubhouse if needs be before carrying on with the rest of the course behind it.
The golf was a Stableford with a few challenging elements and we all enjoyed a good round.
After a smashing (as usual) two course lunches, chockies as well with our coffee, we settled down to some fun and games followed by the prizegiving. Our wonderful captain Anne kept us guessing with a quiz to guess the smell of the various spices she had brought along in plastic cups. we then had to complete a limirek about a lady golfer from Troon !!!!
Winners as follows-
Smell test -Jean and Reggie 14/20
Limerik-Anne Wilson whose lady golfer from Troons' ball ended up in Dunoon !!!
Lucky card -Helen
Lucky horse-Jean
Winning team-Maria,Lindsay and Charlotte.
Nearest hole on the green-Charlotte,with Anne F. a close second .
