On the evening of Thursday the 17th August about 26 of us enjoyed a cheese and wine in the clubhouse which would also give us a chance to say farewell to our very popular last years captain Elisabeth who, with her husband, was relocating down south.
Our present captain Anne Fraser kicked off the evening by presenting Elisabeth with an impressive framed photograph of the clubhouse(expertly taken by Douglas Fraser) This was signed by many of the lady members and I'm sure will be an apt reminder of happy times spent here with us.
We were then introduced to seven different wine by our wine expert Alan Caldow.
Each wine tasting was accompanied by a dish from that region. The first three were from Sicily and we savoured some Sicilian sausage accompanied by an aubergine based vegetable dish washed down by some excellent white and then red wine.
After more international cuisine and wines from around the world we ended with a dessert and a delicious pineapple cheesecake. Best 'cheese and wine' I've ever been too!
The money raised went to our charity Alzheimer Research UK.
Our thanks went to our lady captain Anne Fraser who organised the event, preparing and serving the dishes on nicely set tables. It was good to enjoy a social evening in our newly refurbrished clubhouse and a very extremely merry time was had by all.
