Recent Clubhouse Activity
There has been a wee bit of action this week as our removal arrangements come to fruition
After the last full day of bar trading we lifted the main portion of the lounge carpet and the glasses and crockery were packed by Jean and Margaret from the Ladies section. The removal men were on hand on Thursday and Friday to remove another 20 odd boxes and our major items of equipment, i.e. Fridges, Freezers, Microwaves etc. to The John Pollok Centre for secure storage.
We also had a meeting with Pauline Bradley, Head of Project Design at South Ayrshire Council and Architect Graham Ross who outlined the proposed renovations to our Clubhouse These include: New Carpeting, Lighting, internal Decoration, a passenger Lift, improved disabled access, Toilet refurbishment, New Windows and Blinds and possible Locker configuration. The proposed roofing works will rectify our leakage problems in the Bar.
This was a very positive meeting and I believe we can look forward to a revitalised and contemporary Clubhouse which we can all be proud of. I am reminded of an old adage - "You cannot make an omelete without breaking eggs"!
This week we have fitted the original clubhouse carpet in the Railway Room and it is looking the part now, and will be ideal for small group meetings.
Today, the Heineken engineers removed the cellar and bar equipment, so we are now definately "A Club with no Beer"! At this moment most of our goods and chattles are packed and either in storage, or are waiting to be uplifted. Our Office and Match equipment and the Lounge tables and chairs will remain in the Clubhouse until the our accommodation in the Portacabins is ready, possibly around 16th. December.
There are still many pairs of golf shoes (at least 25 pairs) plus about the same number of golf trolleys still in the Locker Room. We hope their owners, if they require them, will take advantage of the extended period for collection. This expires on Monday 7th. December, when all unclaimed items will be disposed of in the Bins.
