Job Done!

Hello there everyone. From time to time over the past 18months I have been posting pictures and up-dates on the progress - or lack of it - being made to our Clubhouse during the renovation project .
Thankfully the lengthy and stressful lease arrangements are behind us and we have been able to move back "Home" to our own Clubhouse during the past week.
There was much to be done to get the Clubhouse operational and gradually the bits of the jig-saw are falling into place, hopefully our Members will see a difference and an improvement each time they visit the Clubhouse where our new team behind the Bar - Manager Tony, and his assistants Emma and Robbie - will be doing their best to cater for our needs.  Improved Bar Food and Snacks, delicious Espresso Coffees, Draught Beers and Lagers served at the perfect temperature via the very latest sophisticated delivery system, all designed to make your Membership experience in the Clubhouse more enjoyable - all you have to do is use it.
Thanks are due to all who worked so hard in all sorts of ways behind the scenes to make it happen - especially to Treasurer Henk Tor, Secretary Richard Cox and to Ladies Captain Anne Fraser whose help and advice have been invaluable.
Finally, now that we are installed in the Clubhouse and you can see the results for yourselves there is no need  for further Clubhouse Updates and I am Redundant, but I leave you in the good hands of our Website experts Jack Allan and Lee Boyle, who are doing an excellent job and will keep you up to date on all matters relating to The Welbeck.
All the Best - and as my old golfing partner Robert Dalton would say - "Long Balls tae you!"  Thank you for looking.
David Mac.

Joint Senior/Junior Presentation of Prizes

There was happy gathering of almost 80 at last night's combined Junior and Senior Prize-giving in the South Beach Hotel which included proud parents and relatives on hand to enjoy the occasion and share an enjoyable free Buffet.
Our resident Professional, Gordon Mckinlay was on hand to present the Trophies with his usual style and panache, sadly for us at the Welbeck, Gordon has decided to retire from his post after 27 years. Gordon will enjoy some quality time with his Family, especially his new grand-daughter and actually playing some golf and involving himself in new projects.
Gordon received presentation gifts from the Junior  and Senior Sections and thanked the company in his usual graceful and eloquent fashion.
Special thanks to Junior Convener Alec McCrone and Isobel Stirling for organising  Junior Golf and the Prize-giving, and especially to  Joe Carson and his Match Team of Alan Blackwood and Brian Reid for all their hard work, often in difficult circumstances, culminating in the Senior Prize-giving. Well done Lads!
Thanks also to Stuart and all the staff at the South Beach for making us so welcome and looking after us so well.

Clubhouse pictures update

26/11/2016

It has been a wee while since we added any new pictures - here are the latest and they show that the major exterior works are progressing towards a finish.
What they do not show is the interior progress, what we can report first hand from Henk Tor, our Treasurer, is, that the Brewer's Survey of the Cellar and Bar areas has been completed satisfactorily, with no problems. The new lift has been installed and Henk was really impressed with the quality of the finishes on the work being done, especially to thedoors and the panelling in the Bar. No news yet on the Locker situation. Moving-in Day is now only weeks away!

Work is still moving on at the Clubhouse..
We have been granted access to our part of the Clubhouse in order that the Brewers can carry out a survey and advise us on the possibilities open to us in connection with the Bar.
Hopefully there will be some up to date pictures of the interior for us to show quite soon.

Special note on Lockers:
Although we sent an email regarding the future requirement and provision of lockers, to all previous locker holders according to the email addresses we have on file - it seems that for various reasons e.g. change of details/addresses/emails etc. - without advising the Club - you may not have received this message asking you for your Preference of either a) A Full Size Locker, or b) A Half Size Shoe/Small Hold- all Locker.

The Club needs this information in order to try and plan how to  allocate the lockers available fairly, and would ask you to email the Club at twgc@btconnect.com with your name, previous locker number and your locker preference asap please.
There will also be a sheet on the Club Notice Board where you could add your preference and new details.
Thank you for your co-operation.

The Artist Impression is becoming reality!

Taking Shape
The bulk of the Scaffolding has disappeared once more, to reveal the extent of the progress the Contractors are continuing to make to the Troon Links Clubhouse and as the headline says we have moved from an Artist's Impression to reality.
The recent prolonged spell of unusually good weather for this time of year has allowed the contractors to really push ahead with the exterior of the building, especially the front elevation area. This has been transformed and  as you can see from our latest batch of pictures, it really shows up well in the bright sunlight. Work is also well under way inside the building, but as access is limited I don't have any new pictures of the interior at this time.

Locker Room:
As yet, we still have no definite word on the exact number of lockers being installed in the new locker room, but we do know that due to the height difference, there is not enough space to have two storeys of full size lockers as we did previously. The new configuration will comprise a bottom layer of approximately 50
or so full size lockers and an upper layer of the same number of smaller lockers capable of holding a small hold-all / shoes etc.
We do not know exact numbers, but we have emailed the current locker holders immediately prior to the closure, asking for their preferences, This information will be collated and an allocation plan drawn up in consultation with the locker holders.

The Builders continue to make really good progress, both inside and out of the Building and there are many changes taking place for all to see.
A small group of Welbeck Committee members had a first look inside the Clubhouse this week in the company of the South Ayrshire Officials who are managing the project and had a chance to see for themselves how the renovations are progressing, and it is fair to say that we are pleased with the progress. We also had the opportunity to highlight some areas where some alterations or additions would be helpful.
Hopefully, I will be able to post some better internal photos to give a a clearer idea of the progress being made.
