There was good golf played in both matches - the odd touch of nerves poked through here and there at some important points - alas , on moments like these Games are won and lost.
In the first final ,the Peter Howie Trophy, Robert Stitt overcame our current Club Captain, Douglas Stevenson - who put up a valiant fight - 3 and 2. Robert, receiving 5 Strokes from Dougie, was driving the ball a mile, explained now has a new Driver - but this was still his old one he was using!! Handicapper take note. Well done Robert!
In the Club Championship, there was a battle royal between two old adversaries, Bert Ferguson and Del Chaimberlain, both quadruple winners of the title and aiming for a record fifth.
In a good spirited match, Del maintained a lead throughout, but never had it easy, as Bert snapped doggedly at his heels, taking the match to the 18th green. which was halved, leaving Del Chaimberlain 1 up and the Troon Welbeck Club Champion for a record 5th. time. Well done Del.
